City council is clearing about 900 km of municipal roads, we start at about 4.00 a.m. with the main roads and come over the bus-and school-routes to the smaller roads. We have prepared for ice and snow with 1.200 tons of salt, 100 tons of grid and 60.000 ltrs. liquid salt for the freezing period. About 200 employees of the different branches of city council have been trained. All persons and vehicles are ready for the winter.

But also the house-owner has his obligations. The pavement in front of each house has to be cleared of ice or snow till 7.00 a.m. or immediately when snowfall stops. The house-owner or the inhabitants are obliged, when necessary to clear a path of 1,50 meters for pedestrians. On Sunday you have to clear from 9.00 a.m., and there is no need to sweep after 8.00 p.m.

Please note: Do not sweep the snow in the gutter, but use for example the side of the car-entrance to your house. And do not forget to clean your dust-bins lid from snow and put them to an accessible place on the pavement. So please remember to get a shovel, broom and salt, because winter can last till Easter in Paderborn.
